The LEAFIO AI product development team is excited to introduce a new capability in the LEAFIO AI platform: a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for our Inventory Optimization solution.

With this release, AI assistants and agent-based workflows can now access real-time inventory data, including orders, demand forecasts, and target stock levels, directly from LEAFIO AI, without manual exports or custom API integrations.

LEAFIO AI works with grocery, pharmacy, and specialty retailers in over 40 countries, and this step reflects a shift we’re seeing across the industry: teams want to move faster, rely less on static reports, and bring AI closer to day-to-day decision-making.

What This Changes in Practice

The MCP server gives AI tools direct access to live data from LEAFIO Inventory Optimization: replenishment orders, current stock levels, demand forecasts, and target inventory settings. In simple terms, this means your AI tools can now work with the same data your planners see in real time.

Teams using tools like Anthropic’s Claude, GPT-based assistants, or custom workflows can ask questions and get answers grounded in actual operational data, not exported files or outdated snapshots.

For example, a supply chain analyst can now ask an AI assistant to:

  • spot items approaching stock limits across the network
  • check readiness for upcoming promotions
  • interpret demand forecasts alongside current stock
  • flag unusual patterns in replenishment
  • suggest next steps for category managers

Because everything is based on live data, decisions can be made faster and with more confidence.

Why We Built This Now

Since the Model Context Protocol was introduced by Anthropic in 2024, it has quickly become a practical way to connect AI tools with enterprise systems.

We see more and more teams experimenting with AI but running into the same limitation: their data is locked inside systems that AI can’t easily access.

MCP changes that. Instead of building a new integration every time a new tool appears, companies can use a shared standard to connect everything.

For retail operations, this is especially important. Supply chain data has traditionally lived inside specialized platforms visible in dashboards but has not been part of AI workflows.

With MCP, that gap starts to disappear.

“The way supply chain teams interact with data is changing faster than most platforms were designed for. MCP gives our clients a direct connection between their inventory data and the AI tools they already use without rebuilding integrations every time.”
Alex Medwin, Co-founder of LEAFIO AI

The MCP server is now available for clients using LEAFIO Inventory Optimization. For us, this is more than a feature release. It’s a step toward what we call "agent-ready” retail operations where AI doesn’t just analyze data but actively helps plan, validate, and execute everyday decisions.
