How TG Appliance Group Cut Showroom Floor-Planning Time by More Than Half with LEAFIO Shelf Efficiency

LEAFIO Shelf Efficiency helped TG Appliance Group, a Canadian high-end appliance retailer, build showroom floor plans in less than half the time, according to the retailer's merchandising team. The Tasco and Goemans owner replaced week-long Excel block planning with accurate, to-scale digital layouts. Its merchandising team digitized all 12 Ontario showrooms in about four months and now handles weekly layout changes directly in LEAFIO. TG Appliance Group plans open showroom floors, where refrigerators, ranges, washers, and dryers drive revenue, so true-to-scale accuracy matters as much as speed.

TG Appliance Group is a Canadian specialty retailer of high-end home appliances, operating 12 showrooms across Ontario under the Tasco and Goemans banners. Tasco Appliances (founded 1954) and Goemans Appliances (founded 1978) merged more than a decade ago. The two brands serve builders, designers, and homeowners in southern Ontario's premium appliance market.

Before LEAFIO, TG Appliance Group had no dedicated software for showroom merchandising. Floor plans were built primarily in Excel, and teams across several departments worked together to keep showroom layouts up to date.

• A week of work per showroom. By the merchandising team's own estimate, building one floor plan in Excel took about a week per showroom.
• Block planning instead of true scale. Layouts relied on manual block planning rather than true-to-scale visual representation.
• Planning open showroom floors. TG Appliance Group's revenue drivers, such as refrigerators, ranges, washers, and dryers, stand on open showroom floors. Perimeter shelving holds accessories only. As Jenea Dent-Ali put it when the project was announced, the stores “operate more like experience centers than conventional retail outlets.”
• Showrooms that change every week. TG Appliance Group's showrooms change constantly. Stakeholders request layout updates every week for new product placements and equipment additions. With Excel-based plans, keeping each layout accurate and current was hard.

TG Appliance Group announced its selection of LEAFIO Shelf Efficiency in 2025 after evaluating other leading space-planning tools. The team chose LEAFIO for its transparent account structure, flexibility to create and manage floor plans without limitations, and reliable local support.

With LEAFIO's retail space planning tools, the team handles showroom floor planning at true scale, modeling large appliances on open floors. Perimeter shelving for accessories sits in the same layout. Reusable equipment libraries help the team build new layouts; TG estimates that a layout generally takes less than half the time once those libraries are established.

About 12 employees took part in the implementation, from sales support, merchandising, IT, data and systems analysis, and store operations. They built all 12 Ontario showroom layouts in about four months while learning the platform as internal super users. An on-site working session with the LEAFIO project lead saved an estimated two weeks of trial and error.

The merchandising team now builds a showroom layout in less than half the time the Excel process required. Stakeholder requests for new product placements and equipment arrive every week, and the team implements them directly in LEAFIO. Each showroom's layout stays accurate and current.

To-scale visualizations replaced approximate block plans. According to the team, this improved how they plan, communicate, and make layout decisions.

Having digitized the network themselves, TG's super users estimate they could now recreate and publish all 12 layouts in about a week. For daily control, they rely on the Assortment report in LEAFIO Shelf Efficiency, with the Layout Structure report as a secondary view.

LEAFIO Shelf Efficiency replaced TG Appliance Group's week-long Excel floor planning with a to-scale digital process that keeps up with weekly showroom changes. The same tools behind LEAFIO's planogram software now plan full showroom floors in appliance and electronics retail.

TG Appliance Group plans to adopt the mobile app in the future and is interested in linking floor-plan data with sales and display performance. As of its September 2026 feedback, the mobile app had not been deployed and showroom conversion rates were not being tracked through the platform.
